Description
TNT "S14" brake pads
TNT S14 brake pads are a widely used replacement for many scooters and smaller-displacement motorcycles. They are organic pads with good initial "bite" that are gentle on the brake disc.
This type (S14) is standardised – before buying it is always important to compare the shape of your old pads with the photo, because even scooters of the same model may have used different brake calipers in different years.
Features and benefits
-
Organic material: TNT S14 pads are made from organic compounds. This means they work quietly, do not score the brake disc and reach effective braking sooner than synthetic pads (no long warm-up needed).
-
Price and effectiveness: Ideal for everyday riding in town. They provide safe braking in both dry and wet weather.
-
Versatility: This type of pad is used on many popular scooter models (e.g. various Piaggio and Minarelli-based models, Keeway and others).

Expert tips: fitting and safety
-
Cleaning the brake disc: When replacing the pads, always clean the brake disc with a dedicated brake cleaner. Dust and grease left by the old pads reduce the effectiveness of the new ones and can cause an annoying squeal.
-
Bedding-in period: For the first 50–100 km, avoid sudden "emergency" braking. The pads need to bed in to the disc surface. During this time the braking force may seem slightly lower – this is normal.
-
Caliper care: When you remove the old pads, look at the brake caliper pistons. If they are dirty, wipe them with a cloth and brake cleaner before pushing them back in (to make room for the new pads). This stops the caliper from sticking.
-
Safety: Never use grease or oil on brake pads or discs! If you accidentally get a grease mark on them, be sure to clean it off with brake cleaner.
FAQ: frequently asked questions
How do I know whether S14 is the right code for my scooter?
The most reliable way is to remove the old pads and compare their shape with the S14 photo. The S14 code refers to the shape and mounting points. If the shape matches, the pads will fit.
Why do the pads squeal when braking?
Squealing is usually caused by vibration between the pad and the caliper. You can use a special brake paste (applied to the back of the pad) that absorbs vibration, or simply make sure the disc is clean.
Are these pads suitable for sporty riding?
S14 organic pads are intended for everyday use. If you are preparing a scooter for the track or very aggressive riding, sintered (metallic) pads, which withstand higher temperatures, are recommended.
TNT S14 brake pads are a simple, safe and economical way to keep your braking system working properly.
