58 products
Spark plugs for scooters, mopeds and motorcycles: mostly NGK, including the BR7HIX–BR10EIX iridium series, plus Denso Iridium and Champion. This category has 58 products from €1.50 – as well as plugs, you'll find spark plug caps from NGK, Malossi, Stage6, Motoforce Racing and ECO, a spark plug spanner and a Piaggio/Gilera LC engine service kit. Spark plugs differ in thread reach and heat range, so choose by the original plug or the engine manual. Spark plugs are dispatched from Kaunas within 1–2 working days, and those in stock can be collected from Draugystės g. 19D.
Good to know
How to read the NGK code
In an NGK code, B means a 14 mm thread, R a plug with a resistor, the number is the heat range, and H or E the thread reach. The suffix IX denotes an iridium electrode. For example, the BR8HIX is a short-reach iridium plug, while the BR8EIX has the same heat range but a long reach.
Short or long reach
A plug marked H has a 12.7 mm thread reach, one marked E a 19 mm reach. The reach must match the cylinder head: a plug that's too short will ignite the mixture poorly, while one that's too long can hit the piston and wreck the engine. The most reliable guide is the plug fitted at the factory.
Heat range and colour
In the NGK system, a higher number means a colder plug – these are needed for tuned engines that run hot. A standard engine should use the heat range specified by the manufacturer.
A plug you take out should be light brown. Black deposits indicate too rich a mixture, while a white, scorched-looking insulator indicates too lean a mixture or too hot a plug.
When to replace the spark plug
In a two-stroke engine the plug wears faster because of oil deposits, so it's worth replacing at least once a season or when starting becomes harder. Iridium plugs last longer, but their thin centre electrode must not be bent or cleaned with a wire brush. Check the cap at the same time – a cracked cap also causes ignition problems.
Frequently asked questions
Which spark plug should go in a 50 cc scooter?
Fit the one specified in the scooter's manual or fitted at the factory – the key factors are thread reach and heat range. If you don't know, take out the old plug and email its code to info@scootershop.lt – we'll find the equivalent.
What makes an iridium plug better than a standard one?
An iridium plug's centre electrode is thinner and more wear-resistant, so the spark is more stable and the plug lasts longer. It brings the most benefit in tuned engines, but also suits standard ones, as long as the thread and heat range match.
Can a Denso plug replace an NGK?
Yes, if you choose the exact equivalent. For example, the Denso IW27 corresponds to the NGK BR9EIX, and the IW24 to the BR8EIX. For other equivalents, call +370 608 07699.
Why does my spark plug foul up quickly?
The most common causes are too rich a mixture, too much oil, too cold a plug or long periods of riding at low revs. Check the air filter, carburettor jet and oil pump settings, and only then change the plug's heat range.
