Good to know

Replacement or sport light

A replacement light copies the original shape and mounting, so it fits without any modifications. Sport lights from STR8, TNT or Revo change the look of the scooter – often with LEDs or smoked lenses – but they sometimes need different connectors or an LED relay. Before buying a sport light, check that it suits your model's year.

The model generation decides the fit

Many scooters had their body panels, and with them the lights, changed during the production run – for example the Peugeot Speedfight 1, 2 and 3/4, or the Yamaha Neos before and after 2008. That's why the years or model version given in the name (e.g. Gilera Runner SP) matter – compare them with your scooter.

LEDs and the indicator relay

When you swap ordinary indicator bulbs for LEDs, the standard relay often flashes too fast or doesn't flash at all, because LEDs draw far less current. The fix is an electronic, LED-compatible indicator relay – you'll find these in the "Turn Signal Relays" section. Swapping the relay is easy, as on most scooters it simply plugs into a connector.

Light colours and checks

The front light must be white, the rear red and the indicators amber, and the brake light must be clearly brighter than the tail light. After replacing lights or doing any electrical work, check all the lights, the indicators on both sides and the brake light with both brakes.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know which light will fit my scooter?

Search by model and production year, as even generations of the same model have different lights. If in doubt, email your model and year, or a photo of the old light, to info@scootershop.lt or call +370 608 07699.

Why isn't my scooter's light working?

Most often the bulb has blown or its connector has worked loose; less often the light switch or a wire has failed. Check the bulb and its holder first, then the fuse and the switch on the handlebar.

Do Yamaha and MBK scooters take the same lights?

Many Yamaha and MBK models are twins – the Yamaha Aerox and MBK Nitro, the Yamaha BWS and MBK Booster, the Yamaha Slider and MBK Stunt – so their lights and indicators often match. Still, compare production years, as body updates often changed the lights too.

Why do the lights get brighter as the revs rise?

This happens on scooters whose lights are powered directly by the alternator with AC current: the faster the engine spins, the higher the voltage. If the flickering is severe or bulbs keep blowing, check the voltage regulator.
