Description

Airsal gasket set (SPORT 70cc) – Minarelli Horizontal LC

When carrying out an engine repair or fitting an Airsal Sport 70cc cylinder, the gaskets are among the most important parts, ensuring engine compression, a sealed cooling system and a long service life. This set has been selected specifically for the Airsal Sport 70cc (aluminium) cylinder for Minarelli Horizontal LC (liquid-cooled) engines.

Why is it important to use original-type Airsal gaskets?

  • Precise compatibility: Every Airsal cylinder has its own port layout and cooling jacket. Original gaskets match these openings exactly, so the coolant passages are not blocked and the mixture flows smoothly.

  • Material quality: The gaskets in the set are made from high-temperature-resistant materials that don't "settle" (compress too much) and keep their seal for a long time, which is essential for maintaining the high compression of a 70cc cylinder.

  • Base gasket thickness: This gasket determines the engine's squish clearance (combustion chamber volume). By using the gasket designed for this particular model, you get the right compression ratio and protect the engine from detonation.

The set (usually) includes

  1. Cylinder base gasket (base gasket): The most important gasket, setting the height of the cylinder above the crankcase.

  2. Head O-rings: As this is a liquid-cooled cylinder, special heat-resistant silicone rings are used to seal the head, preventing coolant from getting into the combustion chamber.

  3. Exhaust gasket: A copper or special composite ring that stops exhaust gases escaping between the cylinder and the exhaust flange.

Fitting tips

  • Cleanliness: Before fitting, all mating surfaces must be perfectly clean, free of old gasket residue or sealant. Even the slightest unevenness can cause a coolant leak.

  • Looking after the O-rings: When fitting the head O-rings, we recommend applying a light, thin coat of grease or special sealant (only if the manufacturer specifies it) so that they don't slip out of place during assembly.

  • Tightening the bolts: Always tighten the cylinder head bolts in a criss-cross pattern (opposite corners) to the recommended torque. This ensures the gasket is compressed evenly.

  • Don't use sealant: If the gaskets are in good condition and the surfaces are flat, no additional sealant may be used on the cylinder base gasket. It can squeeze the gasket out or block the cooling passages.
