66 products
Standard and performance CDI units, wiring looms, ignition coils, voltage regulators and switches for scooters with Minarelli, Piaggio/Gilera, Peugeot horizontal and QQ/GY6 engines. The range covers 66 products from €8.99: mostly ECO and TNT, plus RMS, Doppler, Tec, Stage6 and Malossi Digitronic for Piaggio EURO 4 engines. You'll find parts for the Yamaha Aerox, Jog, Booster, Neos 4T, Piaggio Zip, Derbi Senda, SYM and Kymco, and many of the wiring looms list the OEM number in their name. Orders are packed at our Kaunas warehouse and handed to the carrier within 1–2 working days.
Good to know
How to spot a faulty CDI
The CDI unit controls the spark timing, so when it fails the plug no longer sparks, or the engine cuts out when hot and starts again once it has cooled. Before replacing the CDI, check the cheaper parts: the spark plug, plug cap, ignition coil and earth lead.
If they're all fine but there's still no spark, measure the resistance of the generator coil – only then is replacing the CDI justified.
AC or DC supply
An AC-type CDI is powered directly from the generator coil, a DC type from the battery via the ignition switch. These units are not interchangeable, so check the marking in the name and the number of pins on the connector. For example, the Kymco Agility 50 4T switch is designed for a direct current (D/C) system.
Performance CDI and revs
Performance CDIs usually have no factory rev limiter and use a different ignition curve, so the engine can rev higher. A unit like this is worth fitting together with a performance cylinder, exhaust and a properly set-up carburettor – on a standard engine the difference is small.
Replacing the wiring loom
An old wiring loom is often damaged by moisture, rodents or previous repairs – the result is flickering lights, indicators that don't work or starting problems. Choose the loom by scooter model and year of manufacture: for example, the looms for the Yamaha Aerox up to 2004 and after 2004 are different.
Frequently asked questions
How do I know whether a CDI will fit my scooter?
The key thing is that the engine type, supply (AC or DC) and connector shape match. It's best to compare it with your old unit or email us your scooter's model and year at info@scootershop.lt – we'll recommend the right one.
Does a performance CDI increase top speed?
On its own, not by much. A performance CDI removes the rev limit, but it only adds speed when the engine can produce more power, e.g. with a performance cylinder, exhaust and a properly matched variator.
What's the difference between an ignition coil and a CDI?
The ignition coil turns the pulse sent by the CDI into high voltage, which creates the spark at the plug. The CDI decides when the spark should happen and the coil produces it, so if either part fails the engine won't start.
What is a voltage regulator for?
A voltage regulator stabilises the generator voltage and protects the battery and bulbs from overload. When it fails, bulbs often blow or the battery doesn't charge. The Tec regulator is designed for a range of Aprilia, Gilera, Malaguti, MBK, Peugeot, Piaggio, Suzuki and Yamaha models.
