Description
Spark plug NGK BR9ES
"NGK BR9ES" is one of the most popular and reliable spark plugs for two-stroke engines. It is a "workhorse" chosen both by everyday riders and by tuning enthusiasts looking for a proven, quality solution at an affordable price.
This plug offers excellent performance and is specifically designed for higher-performance engines that run at higher temperatures.
Why choose the NGK BR9ES?
-
Heat range (9): This is a "cold" plug, designed for hard-working engines. It dissipates heat efficiently from the insulator tip, protecting the engine against detonation (overheating).
-
Resistor design: The letter "R" in the code means the plug has a built-in resistor. This is needed to suppress radio-frequency interference, which can disrupt electronic devices or the scooter/motorcycle speedometer and ignition system.
-
Reliability: "NGK" is an original equipment manufacturer, so every plug is made to strict quality standards that ensure a stable spark.

Expert tips
-
The right heat range: Never switch to a plug with a different heat range (e.g. BR8ES to BR9ES or vice versa) unless the manufacturer of your engine modifications recommends it. The wrong heat range can lead to engine failure:
-
Plug too cold (e.g. 9 instead of 8): It can quickly foul with soot and cut out.
-
Plug too hot (e.g. 8 instead of 9): It can cause overheating and burn a hole in the piston.
-
-
Spark gap: Although the plug comes set to a standard gap from the factory, we always recommend checking it with a feeler gauge against your service manual (usually 0.6–0.7 mm).
-
Replacement interval: In two-stroke engines the plug "consumes" the mixture together with the oil, so it naturally wears faster. To avoid "surprises" on the road, we recommend keeping a spare plug under the seat.
-
Fitting: Always screw the plug in fully by hand so as not to damage the thread in the cylinder head. Then tighten it with a spanner by just 1/4–1/2 of a turn after the plug seats on its washer.
Ensure smooth engine running and easy starting – the "NGK BR9ES" is a proven choice for every day.
