Good to know

Complete seat or cover

A complete seat with base and foam is the choice when the plastic base is broken or the foam has disintegrated. If the base is sound, a cover is enough: the old one comes off once the staples are removed, and the new one is stretched over and fixed with an upholstery stapler. A cover takes more work, but lets you keep the original base with its lock.

Stretching the cover

Before fitting, keep the cover somewhere warm or warm it with a hairdryer – the softened material stretches more easily without creases. Start fixing it at the centre front, then the rear and sides, so the seams stay in place and the cover doesn't twist.

OEM number and versions

When a model has several seat versions, like the Yamaha Aerox 2013–2017, they differ by OEM number (e.g. 1PH-F4732-00 and 1PH-F4752-00). You'll often find the number on the underside of the seat or in the parts catalogue by VIN – that way you'll avoid mistakes. If you can't find the number, compare the positions of the mounting pins with your old seat.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a seat and a seat cover?

A seat is the complete assembly with plastic base, foam and cover, fitted without any extra work. A cover replaces only the top layer, so it needs a sound base and a bit of work to fix in place.

Does a cover only fit the stated model?

Yes, covers are sewn to the shape of a specific seat – for example, there are separate ones for the Derbi Senda DRD 2011–2017 and 2018 versions. The wrong cover will crease or won't stretch over the edges.

Can I replace the cover myself?

You can – you'll need a screwdriver to remove the old staples, an upholstery stapler and a bit of patience. If in doubt, an upholsterer or scooter workshop can fit the cover for you.

How do I check whether a seat will fit?

Match the model, year and, if given, the OEM number. If you can't find your model in the list, email info@scootershop.lt or call +370 608 07699 and we'll advise.
