About Malossi

Variator and final drive

Malossi variator parts, torque springs and clutch bells work as a single system. A stiffer torque spring moves the shift point to higher revs, a softer one to lower revs. When changing the variator, it is worth reviewing the roller weight at the same time, as it determines the revs at which the engine accelerates.

MHR cylinder kits

MHR cylinders are designed for performance engines, so they usually need a larger carburettor, a sport air filter and an exhaust. The product name gives the engine family (e.g. Piaggio/Gilera LC, Minarelli AM6, Derbi D50B) – it must match your engine – and the cooling type (air or liquid) also matters.

Small parts and filters

Air filter foams and brake pads are the most frequently replaced Malossi products. A foam is easiest to wash and oil with a dedicated oil, and a worn one should be replaced with a new one. Choose brake pads by scooter model and brake caliper, as pad shapes differ.

Frequently asked questions

Are Malossi parts suitable for my scooter?

Malossi parts are made for the engine family and model given in the product name. If you are not sure about your engine, call +370 608 07699 or email your model and year to info@scootershop.lt – we'll check compatibility.

Which torque spring should I choose?

For everyday riding a standard or slightly stiffer spring is usually enough. For a performance engine that makes its power at high revs, a stiffer torque spring is chosen so that the variator shifts later.

Do I need to change the carburettor with an MHR cylinder?

Usually, yes. A standard 12–14 mm carburettor supplies too little mixture for a larger performance cylinder, so a larger carburettor and a sport air filter are chosen, with the jets matched accordingly.

When should I replace the air filter foam?

It is worth washing and oiling the foam every few thousand kilometres, and replacing it when it hardens, crumbles or no longer fits the housing snugly. A dry or torn foam lets dust straight into the engine.
